FPGA Inventory Assessment: Why Complete Ordering Codes Matter

Use complete FPGA ordering codes, including package and grade information, for inventory assessment and sourcing. A shared family does not imply compatibility or demand.

Check devices within each family

Use manufacturer information for the specific AMD / Xilinx, Intel / Altera or other FPGA device. Keep speed, package and temperature grade rather than describing stock only by a family name.

Record packaging and physical condition

Describe trays, loose stock, removed or reworked parts, with label and external photos. Disclose removal and rework. Confirm acceptance and inspection; good appearance does not establish validated function.

Illustrative assessment scenario

A discontinued project leaves FPGA backup stock. List full codes and lots, source documents and any prior inspection records. A buyer planning reuse should have engineering confirm design compatibility. This scenario includes no transaction promise.

Separate requested parts from alternatives

State whether the RFQ requires the exact device or permits alternatives. Engineering must review pinout, power, resources, tools and firmware; price or family similarity is insufficient.

Next steps

Prepare a full inventory list for a sale, or a BOM and quality requirements for sourcing. Request an inventory assessment · Send a procurement RFQ · Review quotation inputs.
