BOM Sourcing: How to Prepare a Clear IC Component RFQ

A clear BOM RFQ puts the full part number, quantity, delivery needs and quality requirements on each line. Explicit lot, packaging and alternate-part rules reduce ambiguity.

Identify the exact component

Record manufacturer, full part number, package, grade and revision. Retain relevant engineering BOM notes. Similar family names, images or pin counts do not establish interchangeability.

Make delivery needs verifiable

Specify destination, needed delivery date and whether partial shipments are acceptable. Review available quantity, inspection time and transit separately. Stock availability does not necessarily mean the whole order can ship immediately.

Define condition and traceability

State acceptable condition, lots, original packaging, source documents and reports. Agree inspection coverage and acceptance criteria, without assuming a sample report represents functional testing of every unit.

Approve alternatives and commercial terms

List alternates separately for engineering review of datasheets, pinout, electrical requirements and firmware. Procurement should also check currency, taxes, validity, warranty and returns. The buyer confirms application suitability.

Next steps

Prepare a full inventory list for a sale, or a BOM and quality requirements for sourcing. Request an inventory assessment · Send a procurement RFQ · Review quotation inputs.
